Father Joel
CIT High School Class of 64
I went to Mambaling Elementary School to study satong, jolens and lastico. I spent an extra year there because my teacher, Mr. Atilano, insisted that I should not graduate until I learned to wear shoes. "You can't go to CIT wearing bakyâ," he said. I went to high school at the Cebu Institute of Technology. There I learned many things, some of them I bet you don't even know about. Yeah? Well, do you know that every year there's a Takyan Tournament at CIT? That's why, instead of books, I carried takyan to school. And that's why my neighbors in Mambaling really believed that I was going to school at the Cebu Institute of Takyan. I went to college very quietly, so quietly that my parents didn't even hear about it until just before they died, when I was forced to confess to them that I did. It was in college that I learned the best thing I ever learned in my whole life — Virgin! Ah, yes, Vir and gin, I mean "Beer ug gin."
